35 Gallon Overhaul

So everyone, I have finally made the changes to my 35 Gallon tank and it looks awesome....

I added a red river to the tank with Eco Complete, I moved some of the plants around and added more from a recent auction I attended here in SLC. Once they grow in ill be spreading them about.

The tank looks alot better and I removed the glass from the top also so that more light can get in and make it easier to feed fishies.

So here are some pics of the changes....

Update

First of al, thanks to all the visitors to my blog... Its awesome and I appreciate it very much,

An Update on the tanks.....The tanks are doing okay right now. I found out I lost a SAE in one of my tanks today which is sad and I lost another otto in my 20 gallon also. I checked the main params and found 0 Ammonia, 0 Nitrites and only 5 or less Nitrates which is great. MY Ph is at 7.8 and steady which is a good thing on the 20 gallon. But i dont understand why im loosing fish in the 20 gallon. Its not overloaded. I havent added any ferts to the 20 gallon for a while and I am seeing some decent growth in my older plants. The new ones seem to be settling in and I made some drawings today of what I want my two tanks to look like.

This is a drawing of my 35 gallon

Then these are drawings of a stand I want to build

The first page shows the pogression from the posts to the support of the stand. The second page shows drawings of what the front, back and top views maybe seen as. Im thinking of using Oak for my outside and pine for my supports. Im going to use Plywood for shelving on the inside of the tank and possibly as support under thank tank itself but above the framing. I also wanting to add an oak trim round the top of the stand to help support the tank and stop it from bowing and to the bottom to match the top.

Welcome

Hi & Welcome to my new Tank Log Blog..Thanks to Scott F for this great idea and place to blg about your tank. I decided to do this because I may not be able to get onto my favorite forums and chat or post but I can keep everyone up to date with my tanks with these posts. So Im hoping in the future that people will come and post their comments here aswell as on the forums. So to get everyone to catch up I have currently got 2 running tanks. The first is a 35 Gallon High, Planted with several plants and community fish. The picture of it at its best is on the side bar. The second tank is my new 20 gallon planted tank that i recently upgraded from a 10 gallon. This is also planted. Im hoping to have some good pictures of the new tank shortly. My 35 Gallon has been running now for about 2 Years. I have had it since I graduated with my Degree and its been up n running ints various forms ever since. Currently its not looking so good but im hoping to change that.My 10 gallon was running okay. I upgraded the tank to a 20 Gallon and I ended up starting a Mini-Cycle with that so im running into some problems. I have lost some fish which was stupid of me. I should know this by now but I thought the existing filter and water would insta cycle the tank. However its inhabitants grew immensly and that may have caused the problem with the cycle. I have done two water changes since then and Im hoping not to loose any more Fish.
